About the library

The Physics and Astronomy Library provides resources and services to students and staff of the Department of Physics, the Division of Medical Radiation Physics, the MAX IV Laboratory, and to library users from outside the university.

The Physics and Astronomy Library specialises in all areas of physics and astronomy. We also have a small collection of novels, poems, and children’s books with a connection to physics or space. We also have general interest books on topics such as the history of science, popular science, and study techniques. For example, you can read up on how to structure a thesis or write an article.

The library provides access to digital and hard copy resources and databases. We also offer support and guidance in information retrieval, reference management, and scientific publishing.

The Physics and Astronomy Library has a quiet study area.

The Astronomy Library has moved

As the Department of Astrophysics moved to Fysicum, the Astronomy Library closed for visitors in December 2023.

Parts of the collection is relocated to Fysicum, where they are available in the lower level of the library. The course books are incorporated together with the Physics Library's course books. The rest of the astronomy collection you can request via LUBcat.

The library is now called the Physics and Astronomy Library.
